The tablet is built nicely, but don’t expect the metal frame though. Though it looks like a metal chassis but a plastic one indeed. The CPU’s performance is ok if you don’t plan to run high quality video, no wonder the native resolution is merely 800×480, since it is a total waste if it goes beyond its CPU’s capacity. Also, beware of what language you plan to use on this tablet. It comes with only 3, English, French, and Spanish. If you want to install more languages input? Yes, you could try, but there is no way to switch to the new language input mode. So, you get stuck on the 3 languages pre-installed. I have tried multiple ways, but did not work out. I also called Viewsonic tech support. They are nice, at least, but helpless at all. The guy on the other side of the phone had less knowledge of the tablet than I did, what could you expect? So, overall, a nice piece, but has its limit.

Bought a Dell streak 7, and then this device. Had problems with data speed on the streak and seeing some high online recommendations decided to try this device.

This is a perfect little device to tow around campus or home. Looking for something that’s quick and easier then take out your laptop? This viewsonic will fit your needs, I bought this so I would have a bigger screen to view my textbooks, magazines and movies then my droid 2. This clearly fit my needs and plays well with my phone.

Most of the reviews have left out the fact that the ViewPad 7 is an unlocked GSM phone that accesses AT&T’s 4G network for both calls and data. Calls and data at high speed just worked right out of the box when the SIM was inserted. For whatever reason the carriers are blocking the call feature on the tablets they are marketing themselves. Of course, that way you have to buy two devices from them! The screen is ample and vivid. The battery lasts all day. The OS works flawlessly. One problem: the front facing camera is not working with video chat apps like Tango. I eagerly await a firmware fix for this.
