I purchased this for myself over an iPad. There were a number of things I needed to consider since I am on the road a lot as well as an independent film maker. I do love the iPad but there are things about it that could not be overcome. I’ll list just the Archos attributes here and from my chair, they are clearly not optional requirements.

I have an iPad and the Archos 70. I bought them both around the same time to test for work and to look into designing a mobile app for my company. After thoroughly testing both devices, I find myself using the Archos almost exclusively. The iPad is definitely more responsive and it’s a better designed device from a purely aesthetic point of view; but the Archos 70 does what it does well and is more comfortable to hold and use for long periods. I hold it for hours at a time and use it to browse the Internet while watching TV at night. I can stick it in my pocket when I need to. It’s easier to type on because you can two hand it just like you do your phone. I really like the 7″ form factor and I like my Archos 70.
